Admins manage an association, league or a school. They create teams and pay for them. Once a team is paid for and active, Admins invite Head Coaches to manage each individual team.

Head Coaches are responsible for managing a team. They build a coaching staff and a roster of players by sending them links to join the team. Head Coaches (and assistant coaches) can then upload film and comment on it. Coaches can also exchange film with people not on the roster.
Players join a team's roster and can view film. They can send and receive messages from coaches and fellow players.
This means that Players, Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches all need to be sent a link to join a team. That link takes them to a page that just manages their joining a team and either being put on the roster or joining the coaching staff. Once they accept the invitation to join, they are directed to their team page.
Game film is a series of short videos of each play in a game. A play is video taped "whistle-to-whistle".
Every Tackle Film user regardless of their role needs a Tackle Films account. We use emails for logins. Emails make good user ids because they are unique and can be used to recover lost passwords.
We also ask for first and last name so coaches and players can tell who is sending messages and understand who is on their roster. Or, in the case of Jr. PeeWees, figure out the name of the Defensive Coordinator that they already forgot.
Accounts are free and we take the privacy of this information very seriously. (See our Privacy Policy.)
For Tackle Films there are only two types of season - the current season and all the past seasons.
The current season is the active one you are working to make great. For the current season you can upload film, view film, exchange film, manage rosters and message. You pay for current season teams and each one adds 30 hours of film storage to be shared by all your teams.
For past seasons, your work is done. Past seasons teams are used to archive previous seasons' film. You can upload and share film. There is no charge to create a past season team but they do not add to film storage hours. But they can use your shared hours.
For example, say you pay for one team for the current season that uses 5 hours of film and want to archive 2 past seasons that each use 10 hours. That is a total of 25 hours so there is no extra cost.
Seasons always stay with you. When you logon to Tackle Films, you see all the seasons you were on a roster or on a coaching staff.
We recommend you watch the video on Administration and Managing a Roster. The Player Overview and Coach Overview may help you to better understand your Coaches' and Players' experience.
If you feel comfortable with Tackle Films, the video for Coaches may be enough. However, there are videos on Uploading Film, Managing a Roster and Exchanging Film.
Watch the Player Overview.
